News.com: Microsoft to XMLize Office. This is the first official notice that XML is to play a big role in Microsoft's app suite. But the info was available by reading tea leaves. Microsoft's involvement in the XML standardization process is visible, as is their interest in simple XML-based RPC, and they are very active in WebDAV.
